Mission Partner Update - She is Safe, June 2025

Indonesia is a beautiful country that harbors a lot of darkness, but God is at work in the midst of it. I had the privilege to travel there with She Is Safe, a global anti-trafficking ministry that is headquartered in Roswell and one of Fellowship’s mission partners.

There is so much I could share about this trip, but the highlight was experiencing She Is Safe’s ministry in a bustling tourist area where women are frequently lured with false promises of high paying jobs in the hospitality industry. They end up trapped in red light areas with no other way to earn an income. We were able to spend time with three of these women. Two of them had been able to transition out of red light work into better jobs, but one had not. It is difficult to find legitimate work that provides enough to support their families back home, and she had several children she was separated from.

She Is Safe provides women like these business training to help them create new lives. They are able to build supportive relationships with each other built on trust and encouragement as they work toward new futures and experience the light of Christ.

In the tourist area we visited, drugs are rampant, so She Is Safe’s Indonesian coworkers are very familiar with the 12 steps – in fact, some of them are in recovery for their own addiction issues. It was an unexpected joy to be able to connect with them thanks to the experience God has provided me through Re:Generation, Fellowship’s 12 step discipleship ministry.

Despite cultural differences and oceans between us, we had the common language of surrendering to Jesus as our higher power and relying on Him for everything – our daily support and the ability to glorify Him with our lives. We are all in need of His recovery!
