Josh was born in Abilene, TX and was raised all over the Lone Star state. Josh graduated from High School in Llano, TX and moved to San Angelo, TX to attend college. He met his bride Sarah at Angelo State University and they were married while earning their degrees. After graduating from Angelo State University, Josh and Sarah moved to Fort Worth, Texas where Josh earned a Masters degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Josh served as a college ministry intern at Glen Meadows Baptist Church while attending Angelo State University. He served as a college and youth associate at First Baptist Church Carrolton while earning his Masters degree. Following graduation from Seminary Josh served as a collegiate minister at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado while engaging with several church plants in the city. The Lilly family moved from Colorado to Nashville, Tennessee where Josh participated in the TRAIN Church Planting Residency at Brentwood Baptist Church. After completing the residency, the Lilly family moved back to San Angelo, Texas and planted Sent Church. Additionally, Josh has trained, sent, and coached multiple Church Planters and sits on various ministry boards.
