The Scriptures teach us that the local church has two offices, ordained by God, to serve the church and her people. One is the office of elder. Elders are pastor shepherds to teach and guard doctrine as well as lead and guide the church.
Deacons are the second. The office of Deacon, as set forth in Scripture, is one of compassion, concern for needs, and of serving others. Therefore, the first duty of the Deacon is sympathy and service. The word “deacon,” means “servant.” Deacons include qualified men and women as seen in Romans 16:1 and 1 Timothy 3:8-12. They handle many of the details of the church, allowing elders to focus on shepherding and teaching the church.
They are committed servants who help make ministry happen within our church. Their role is to work closely with the staff as they both build the body of Christ up into all maturity.
This new office at Fellowship will be filled with those already doing the work of loving Jesus and serving others without the title of Deacon. These men and women are faithful, available, teachable, and humble.
Our Desire is to have 5 areas where deacons will serve at Fellowship:
In Acts 6 when the first deacons were selected, it was the people, the local church in Jerusalem, who chose among themselves who would be deacons. Over the next few weeks, we want you to select the next members of this office. We earnestly desire to give the ministry of the church to you, the congregation. To nominate a deacon, please fill out the form below.
Thank you for your help in helping us fulfill our purpose so that Everyone, Everywhere, Including Fellowship, Experiences Jesus.
