Live Sent. These were the final two words from Pastor Jason's benediction on Sunday, June 20, 2021. Live Sent isn't simply a moniker to live by—it's a commissioning. Sure, it is a commissioning from our Senior Pastor, but more importantly, it is one from our Savior.
In John 20:21, Jesus says, Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you. For those in right relationship with Christ, each of us has been called into the work of proclaiming the Gospel to the world around us. Paul says in 2Corinthians 5 that we've been given the ministry of reconciliation and therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. And in Romans 10:14-15, Paul asks, How then will they call on him whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?
Fellowship Family, as members of God's family, we are a Sent people. We are ambassadors, we are reconcilers, and we are the saints charged with carrying the message of the Good News to our neighbors and nations. None of us are excused from this work. Some of us are called to the places we live, work, and play in North Atlanta. Some of us will be called or have already experienced a specific call from the Lord to the nations. Either way, we are all called to live sent.
What a gift to hear of the Lord's work through Tim, Kristi, and their family's faithfulness to follow God's call on their lives—even to the Middle East! Like you, my heart is filled with great joy and gratitude to the Lord for all that He accomplished in and through them over the last twelve years. And I'm grateful that they have been a faithful reminder to our Fellowship Family that following God's call in obedience is our call, regardless of what or who the calling is to.
If you enjoyed last week's interview with Tim and Kristi, you're going to love what you read next! We have the opportunity to hear from another Fellowship Family who is living sent. Join us on Sunday morning, June 27, as we hear from The Williamson family as they prepare to return to the work God has called them to in Papua New Guinea. I can't wait for you to hear what God has been doing, is doing, and will be doing through their obedience to His calling on their lives!
Our benediction—our blessing for the road—is a commissioning. These are the words from Jesus Christ. May we follow in the way and the call of Jesus, living sent!
