When a believer finds himself a slave to sexual sin, the shame he feels is enormous. Though he confesses his sin to the Father and vows to repent, he always seems to slip back onto the same sexual sin time and time again. The agony of defeat becomes overwhelming. The stress in his life, caused by his inability to live in the power he has received through Christ's victory over sin, becomes so unbearable that he is driven to seek relief. A relief that only sex seems to bring. Thus, the terrible cycle repeats itself.
Is it possible to be free from sexual strongholds? The good news is that in Christ healing and freedom are possible. For this reason Walking Free and Journey exist - "to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives, and release the prisoners from darkness (Luke 4:18)".
Walking Free - Support Group for Men
In a time when sexual addiction is reaching epidemic proportions across the nation and around the world, and increasing at an alarming rate in the Body of Christ, Fellowship Roswell is reaching out to those seeking freedom in this area. Like substance abuse, sexual addiction is devastating to families. Men and women disconnect from reality to pursue the illusion of love and acceptance they find through pornography (in all of its forms), anonymous sexual encounters, and multiple affairs.
Individuals seeking to join the group are interviewed and evaluated in an intake counseling session. At that time, determination is made to see if any additional counseling or treatment is necessary. The goals of the Walking Free support group include allowing Jesus Christ to reconstruct a life broken by sexual sin, depending on him to conquer life-dominating sin patterns, establishing guiding foundations of truth from Scripture, and encouraging life-changing relationships of love and trust in the lives of group members. The group meets weekly and utilizes both large and small group settings for ministry.
Journey - Support Group for Women
Journey is a confidential support group for women affected by men who battle sexual addictions.
Women related to men struggling with sexual addiction experience overwhelming feelings of emotional pain, hopelessness, and loss. As men begin to find healing and restoration through their Walking Free support group, women begin to cry out for help as well. Journey is born out of the need to bring healing and hope to women related to male sex addicts and to help them grow toward dependency on Christ.
Journey also meets weekly and seeks to provide a safe, caring environment in which women can feel totally free to share their hurts and to grieve. In the large group setting, women discuss the different dynamics associated with addiction. This is an opportunity to share personal hurts and struggles and to receive support from others in the context of a small group. Emphasis is placed on being completely honest with self, God and others, and on developing healthy, interdependent relationships with both men and women.
We are now accepting registrations for the September 2017 groups. Upon receiving your registration, a Journey leader will contact you for an intake interview, and you will be assigned to a group.
